Another Writer's Conference?!

10/19/2012

Yes, I'm off to another writer's conference. It didn't dawn on me until yesterday how much I've learned over the years from attending these. Yesterday, a friend called for submission advice. My answers ran along the lines of: "I wouldn't do that," "Double space the manuscript!", "Look up their submission guidelines," and "No, don't do that...better not...only if they said to..." There is so much to know about getting published, aside from knowing how to write. So, yes, I'm off to writer's conference to learn and relearn!

If you have a question about my theatre company that's now closing, or perhaps we talked about scheduling a show, do contact me. Although Cwerks is closed, my husband and I still perform. Just click on contact and let me know what you need. I'll be happy to help you!

Well, after many years, we're closing our theater company. All those scripts I wrote are now returned to me in their entirety. Many hours later, I've managed to get the scripts listed on this website.

A Standing Ovation, or at least a bit of applause

This morning I finished reading Wonder by R.J. Palacio. Loved it.
My favorite-est quote is:
"I think there should be a rule that everyone in the world should get a standing ovation at least once in their lives."
As a performer for and director of children, I know this to be so true! Ah, the delight on their young faces!

Self-Discipline is Hard!

It takes a lot of work. You have to practice that self-discipline muscle like any other.
Oh, I would love not to have to be self-disciplined, to laze around in bed or mosey through the house in a bathrobe all day...
Actually, I wouldn't love that--I don't like bathrobes as clothes of choice and lazy days are like being in limbo. I like doing things. Unfortunately, many of the things that keep me busy tend to be kind of important -ish, maybe, but somewhat trivial. The things that I would love to accomplish, I put off because I know they're going to take a long time to do.

And now we're back to Self-Discipline. So I wrote this down as a reminder to self that it's up to me. And really, if I'm going to waste time to avoid important things, I might as well stop lying to myself and do something I WANT TO DO, like go to the beach!

    Marian, that's me!

I love stories! I love to read fairy tales, fables, stories from around the world. I especially love scifi and fantasy. And I like to write. And watch movies. And play board games. And do theatre things.
